JOB TITLE:                FACILITIES TECHNICIAN            HELPER        



AREA:                        FACILITIES                         








To perform building maintenance work at all facilities to ensure that equipment is in safe and efficient working order.



Reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor.




Provides assistance to Maintenance Team and GIOC program participants during their training program.




  1. Receives work and safety instructions and answers questions. Communicates with management, co-workers, and program participants.


  1. Performs minor repairs on plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, lighting, painting, carpentry, trailer repairs, etc.


  1. Provides feedback to Maintenance Supervisor on issues pertaining to Facilities repairs or Safety violations.


  1. Assists and completes work orders given by Facilities Technicians/ Maintenance Supervisor.


  1. Tracks work orders and other data on a PC using spreadsheet programs or other applications as needed.


  1. Facilitates resolution of customer problems and documents activity.


  1. Works overtime as required.


  1. Drives on company business a required.


  1. Performs other job related duties as required.


  1. Safeguards company property, including donated goods. Reports any incidents of theft or unauthorized possession of company property.


  1. Acts safely at all times, following all safety rules and regulations.


  1. Follows all company policies and procedures.


  1. Promotes and demonstrates cooperation and teamwork. Assists and shares knowledge and information with other employees as needed.


  1. Uses good interpersonal skills such as courtesy, sensitivity, politeness, and thoughtfulness.


  1. Works with, trains, and/or acts as a good example for program participants receiving training at Goodwill.




  1. High school diploma or GED preferred. Experience in a Trade is preferred.


  1. Working knowledge and use of a variety of hand tools.


  1. Experience using PC software, specifically experience with spreadsheets.


  1. Effective writing skills to document customer activity, problems, etc.


  1. Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and/ or be trained via Goodwill of Orange County's programs.


  1. Knowledge of building and ADA codes.


  1. Valid California driver's license, liability insurance, and a DMV record acceptable to Goodwill's insurance company.




Uses hand tools (including hammer, screwdriver, measuring tape, nuts, bolts, wrench, etc.), plumbing equipment and tools, electrical equipment and tools, paint equipment and tools, carpentry equipment and tools, moving equipment and tools (including dolly, gloves, carts, etc.,), work order forms, tool belt, and other various office and maintenance supplies.
