To design, develop and evaluate Web-based marketing and business solutions for the organization and for the e-Commerce business,, and to manage department strategic planning and execution. 


Reports directly to the Vice President of Retail Operations.


Will supervise department staff including e-Commerce Systems Programmer, Technology Services Specialist, and Customer  Service Representatives.  Contracts with and directs work activities of outside Site Programmer and other professional consultants when appropriate and necessary as determined by the Vice President of Retail Operations. Interfaces  with design consultants  and vendors.  Operates  with substantial latitude for independent action and decision making.



  1. Provides strategic and operational direction for planning, designing and developing all organizational Website applications and interactive marketing initiatives in conjunction with the Marketing Department and Technology Services.


  1. Performs and manages activities related to technical Website development, maintenance and security measures. Creates a wide range of web-based applications. Creates web front-end user interface to new or existing databases. 


  1. Serves as primary resource for updating, creating, and/or modifying company and/or other internal Websites, Web-based projects or marketing materials. Responsibilities include: obtaining current data from internal contacts and ensuring timely and accurate input; providing training and guidance to employees regarding access and procedures; identifying problems or concerns and recommending solution; and providing support for internal users and customers. 


  1. Verifies text and graphic content and formatting for correctness and quality and ensures design consistency throughout website(s).


  1. Prepares and submits reports related to Web development projects to the Vice President of Retail Operations.


  1. Stays abreast of industry trends and all applicable technologies, including scripting, security issues, authoring tools, graphic design tools, and new languages through computer-related resources and attending seminars. 


  1. Analyzes traffic to Websites and recommends any necessary programming and/or hardware/software modifications or changes.


  1. Creates and maintains a variety of files to support department functions.


  1. Collaborates with external vendors on special Website events, promotions, marketing campaigns, or specific design projects. 


  1. Documents internet-related procedures and security information.


  1. Drives on company business. 


  1. Performs other duties as required.


  1. Safeguards company property, including donated goods. Reports any incidents of theft or unauthorized possession of company property.


  1. Acts safely at all times, following all safety rules and regulations. 


  1. Follows all company policies and procedures.


  1. Promotes and demonstrates cooperation and teamwork. Assists and shares knowledge and information with other employees as needed.


  1. Uses good interpersonal skills such as courtesy, sensitivity, politeness, and thoughtfulness.


  1. Works with, trains, and/or acts as a good example for program participants receiving training at Goodwill.




  1. Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university in a related field preferred


  1. Seven to ten years PC and Internet support and related marketing/sales experience.


  1. Knowledge of various PC software and hardware and fundamentals of how the Internet Software requirements include proficiency in the following software programs/applications, formats, and server technologies:


  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Adobe Image ready
  • Macromedia Flash / Shockwave
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access)
  • Understand how to modify, create, and implement CGI/Perl Scripts
  • Understand how to modify, create, and implement Java Scripts
  • Understand the basic workings of a Unix & Microsoft Windows Servers, and be able to provide basic serve
  • Be knowledgeable in cross platform / cross browser compatibility issues


  1. Valid California driver's license, liability insurance, and a DMV record acceptable to Goodwill's Insurance company


  1. Excellent interpersonal communication skills in order to interact with all levels of management, employees, clients and the public.
