PURPOSE OF POSITION:

To provide evaluation and treatment of people with neurological, orthopedic, and general medical diagnoses. 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Reports directly to the Clinical Supervisor of Physical Therapy.

 

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

Potential supervision of PTA's, as well as PT students.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Directs, evaluates, and provides physical therapy services to members as prescribed by their attending physicians, with a goal of optimizing functional restoration and rehabilitation.

 

  1. Instructs, motivates, and assists members to learn and improve functional activities such as perambulation, transfer, ambulation, and daily living activities.

 

  1. Adjusts and trains members in use and care of orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices such as crutches, canes, walkers, and wheelchairs.

 

  1. Maintains current charting notes on each patient treated daily in the WebPT physical therapy software.

 

  1. Provides services inside of a fitness center with a full range of exercise equipment to develop creative and effective treatment plans.

 

  1. Confers with Clinical Supervisor and other fitness center trainers, individually and in conference, to exchange, discuss, and evaluate patient information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment programs. 

 

  1. Performs other job related duties as required. 

 

  1. Safeguards company property, including donated goods. Reports any incidents of theft or unauthorized possession of company property

 

  1. Acts safely at all times, following all safety rules and regulations.

 

  1. Follows all company policies and procedures.

 

  1. Promotes and demonstrates cooperation and teamwork. Assists and shares knowledge and information with other employees as needed. 

 

  1. Uses good interpersonal skills such as courtesy, sensitivity, politeness, and thoughtfulness. 

 

  1. Works with, trains, and/or acts as a good example for program participants receiving training at Goodwill.

 

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 

  1. Bachelors or Masters or DPT Degree in Physical Therapy

 

  1. Current licensure with the Physical Therapy Board of California

 

  1. Current CPR certification

 

  1. Excellent verbal and written skills

 

  1. Strong organizational skills

 

  1. Effective time management abilities

 

  1. Knowledge of use and operation of all gym equipment

 

  1. Strong professional philosophy, including the role of exercise as a therapeutic intervention

 

WORK DEVICES/MATERIALS/EQUIPMENT USED:

Various office supplies and equipment including: telephone, fax machine, computer, printer, copy machine, file cabinets, papers/forms, calendar, pens/pencils, ruler, scissors, etc.

Must be comfortable working with and operating a variety of fitness equipment including treadmills, stationary bicycles, rowing machines, etc. The ability to work with various commercial strength training pieces of equipment with adaptive pieces and accessories will also be expected of the head trainer.
